Body Shop Detailer & Porter

Cleans and refurbishes new and used automobiles. Conforms to dealership and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Regardless of how the customer brought the vehicle in for repairs, we are to return it to them in a clean as new condition. The customer most likely has been through the trauma of a collision and coming to a collision center for repairs is difficult. We are to impress the customer no only be putting the vehicle back to at least at clean as they brought it in but in a like new appearance so that the customer is impressed with the shine and glamour of the vehicle.
Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.
Applies glaze to auto body, and wipes or buffs surface.
Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris. Vehicles in the collision repair become very dusty and dirty from the repair process. All areas of the vehicle are to be cleaned to remove this dust and dirt. Under the hood, trunk, all compartments, under seats etc. sometimes glass gets shattered and all areas must be inspected for glass shards, including the heating duct work.
Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals.
Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.
Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.
Keeps work area neat and clean.
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Every vehicle coming into the shop for repairs requires a thorough cleaning and inspection for any damages prior to beginning repairs. These are to be noted on the check-in inspection form and the form must be signed and time stamped. Incoming mileage is to be recorded on this form.
During the final detailing of the vehicle prior to delivery, every vehicle must go through a complete safety check and inspection for missed or improper repairs (i.e. missing emblems, stripes trim items) there is a check sheet that must be filled out and signed at the completion. Any discrepancies found must be brought to the attention of management. A careful final inspection of the painted surfaces must be made after the vehicle is completely dry for signs of paint overspray and rubbing compound. These must be removed prior to delivery to the customer. We do not want any vehicle to leave our premises with safety equipment not functioning. Following the check sheet all problems found MUST be brought to managements attention.
Responsible for the cleaning of the entire shop and office area. The floors are to be swept daily. All tools, air hoses, cords etc. are to be picked up and put in their proper places. This is to include emptying all trash containers, putting all recyclables in their proper containers. All parts for vehicles in process are to be stored in the caged area next to the dumpster. They must remain there till at least 2 work days after the vehicle has been picked up by the customer. You are also responsible to keep the dumpster and cage area neat. The cage is to be emptied of all parts that no longer need to be kept on a weekly basis. The dumpsters are not to be over filled and may require timing of when the trash is picked up. No large sheet metal items are to be placed in the dumpster. The shop must be kept safe and clear of debris at all times, all spills and drips are to be cleaned up immediately for safety purposes. Care must be taken to throw out only discarded parts, and must verify before disposal if the parts may be needed for reassembly by the technician doing the repairs.
Drains must be kept flowing and care must be used to not allow a large quantity of dirt to go out the drains as to plug them up.
As vehicles are dropped off for repairs they will require movement to the repair holding area immediately. You are responsible for the parking area orderliness and any cleaning up of debris from damaged vehicles that are parked at our facility. The customer parking area is to be kept open at all times for incoming customers. All completed vehicles are to be parked facing forward ready for customer pickup.
Time scheduling of your duties as to meet all deadlines.
Pick up and deliver customers as needed and run errands as directed.
MARGINAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation.
Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces. Uses touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials.
Fills vehicle with fuel.
Replaces missing or defective small parts.
Safety of the entrances to the shop, including shoveling snow and salting icy conditions.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Valid Driver's License

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
